My name is Péter Pistár, and as the mayor of Nyim, I would like to take this opportunity to tell you more about our village. Whether you are planning your next holiday, or you are looking for a new, more environmentally friendly and community-supported lifestyle, we hope to welcome you among us soon.
Our small, historic village of just over 300 inhabitants is located only a short drive away from one of the most popular tourist destinations of Hungary: the spectacular fresh water lake of Balaton. While the lakeside is heaving with restaurants, shops and events, you will enjoy a peaceful retreat in Nyim, set in a valley among the forest-covered hills of Somogy county.
For the past twenty years we have been working hard and managed to create a well-presented and maintained local environment of paved streets, green parks and multi-functional community buildings where we hold regular, popular events for all to enjoy. Despite the relatively small size of the settlement, we have made a good range of services available to our visitors and residents, and we publish monthly newsletters to keep everyone informed.
Thanks to the beauty of our natural environment and our values and lifestyle, we are especially pleased to host an eco-village community, whose members have already started to move here. Some of our residents commute to work to bigger cities, such as Székesfehérvár, but we also have a range of local businesses and organisations whose reputation goes beyond our national borders.
I hope this website will provide you with all the information you may need, but if you have any questions, please feel free to contact us. We look forward to seeing you soon,
Péter Pistár
Mayor of the village of Nyim, County of Somogy, Hungary (EU)
